Can’t get enough Guitar Hero? Hooked on Lost Odyssey? If gaming is your thing, then you may want to take a gander at Joystiq.
This site provides gaming reviews, news, and updates in games for all the popular gaming platforms. And Joystiq is an not associated with any game or game publisher, they don’t hype every new game that comes on the market.
Here’s a quick glance at today’s gaming headlines from Joystiq:

- Metal Gear Online beta ‘planned’ for April 25 … late night
- Silent Hill V now ‘Homecoming,’ dated for September
- Midnight Club: LA racing to Xbox 360, PS3, PSP on September 9
- Metal Gear Online beta delayed, more info tomorrow
Of course, you can now get all this information from your mobile browser. Give Joystiq’s mobile website a try, and be the first to know about the next release of Chaos Theory before your friends.

MobileMammoth.com has learned of an odd, but interesting new feature to be included in the upcoming Google mobile phone.
What is it?
In what some are calling a bold yet questionable effort to out-feature the iPhone, Google has partnered with a Minneapolis bio-engineering firm to incorporate a feature to tell if a person’s breasts are real or if they have been artificially augmented. This team of engineers has developed wireless technology to sense if silicone is present or “nearby in a body of matter”.
The technology is not fool-proof, however. The phone must be within 7.5 feet of the breasts in question, and the phone must be held at “chest-level”, according to the engineer’s statement. Based on tests conducted in closed-door labs over the past 4 months, the tests have been “over 87% accurate.”
When will it be available?
While most analysts predict a late-2008 arrival of the gPhone, this silicone detecting feature will only be available for testing purposes on handsets sold in parts of Los Angeles and Miami, before being made available nationwide 3 months later.
I am a firm believer in creating new and interesting applications for the mobile phone, but I must say this one never entered my mind.
What say you?
My question for you is, would this feature sway you to buy the gPhone? Or do you see it as a novelty feature that you could do without?

If you are into mobile gaming and didn’t happen to catch the winners of the latest International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA), they are certainly worth a look. The IMGA awards started back in 2004, and today we’ll highlight the 2007 overall winner, which comes from the ever popular Action Adventure category.
The overall winner of the 2007 IMGAs was Metal Gear Solid Mobile from game developer Konami.
Below is the excerpt on Metal Gear from the Konami website:
An all new version of the classic game that features original content that can only be found on the mobile platform.
METAL GEAR SOLID® MOBILE features never-before-seen dramatic 3D art displays and camera work that greatly surpasses the quality standard of today’s mobile games. Players will face the extreme tension of solitary infiltration in this version of the tactical espionage action game that has been previously released for the PlayStation® and PlayStation®2 platforms.
You can also find a solid review of Metal Gear Solid Mobile here.

It’s Valentine’s Day. Today is the day you stand out from the crowd and score using one of the wildly popular mobile dating services. Here’s how to start getting loads of profiles sent to you in just a few minutes.
1. Let Them Know Where You Are
Most mobile dating services are location-based, and require the user to send in a zip code or street address so other singles in your area can be notified. Don’t forget to do this! In fact, some mobile dating sites “log you out” of that area after two hours, so be sure to keep an eye on your status.
2. Pick a Unique Profile Name
Again, real estate on a mobile device is slim, and often your user name is the very first thing others will see about you. Make it simple, memorable, and classy. If it’s real cheesy or even vulgar, then many users will skip right on by your profile.
3. It’s all About the Picture
While pictures are important for any online dating service, I’d argue they are even more important for mobile dating services. People do not like to read text on a mobile device, so they will lean on the picture even more. And make sure your profile picture has plenty of lighting, as the displays on the mobile device can be low quality. Plenty of light against a light background works best (and lose the light sabre Luke).
Girls should absolutely smile for their picture. Guys should smile too, but just enough so people know you it.
4. Be Different. Be You.
By filling out every field in your profile, you will absolutely stand out. Remember, some users will have more time to browse profiles than others. If you only fill out the required fields in your profile, people will assume you are not really trying to find someone. Besides, people will want to know more about you before they decide to initiate contact. So tell them!
5. Get Started
You can’t score if you don’t shoot! Here are a couple of the most popular mobile dating services out there. You know how to land a date quickly, so get out there and give it a try today!
>> MeetMoi has been featured on The Today Show, Fox News, and the Wall Street Journal.
>> Fast Flirting, from Jumbuck, has grown to over 4 million members, and recently won the Top App Award 2007.

Following up on yesterday’s USA Today article we mentioned, we took a look at a mobile site that lets you connect with your friends with your camera phone.
As Radar’s home page explains, registered users take a picture with their mobile phone from wherever they are (from a concert, for example). They then send it to Radar as a picture message, and the user’s friends on Radar can then view and even comment on that picture. The service also allows for video uploads as well.
In addition to the mobile website itself, Radar has created a mobile application for various platforms, including for Java MIDP, RIM BlackBerry, Windows Mobile phones, the iPhone, and the iPod Touch.
This might be a fun service for people from birdwatchers to concert-goers to family members taking pictures of the kids. I’m sure there are several other applications of this that might be even more useful. Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think.

If you’re interested in what is up and coming on the mobile web, you need to read Dennis’ recap of MobileCamp San Francisco.
It’s a good summary of what a BarCamp is all about, and highlights a few of the interesting mobile games and services that are being developed as we speak. Great work once again Dennis.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are shaping up to be two of the hottest video games this holiday season. These simulation/karaoke games are played with musical instruments as the controllers, including guitars, drums, and more, and are played against other “bands” online. Guitar Hero has formed a loyal following, while Rock Band is a newer game that is coming on strong this year.
I’d like to know if we’ll see any of these types of simulation games for the mobile phone. So Activision, what about it? When is your guitar phone coming??

Today’s mobile website is all about using your camera phone. fotochatter lets users send their phone pictures to their fotochatter friends, and then comment on them by text message from, of course, their phone.
While this looks more like a dating site right now, I can think of a few more practical uses for this as well.
If you’ve used fotochatter or a similar mobile photo-sharing service, let us know what you think!
