We set up our Twitter account only a few months ago after avoiding it for over a year. One of the reasons I’m glad we finally caved is that we’ve found that many people post real useful stuff exclusively through their Twitter feed, even when it’s not necessarily on their site or blog.
One person that recently did just that is the very widely followed Steve Rubel. Steve’s insanely popular blog, Micro Persuasion is a must-read for anyone interested in how technology is impacting business, marketing, and life in general.
Steve made a quick Twitter post about an RSS Feed covering iPhone applications. A few of the recent iPhone apps profiled in the feed include GarageBuy (connect to eBay sites worldwide), Gratuity (tip calculator), and Salesforce Mobile, to name a few.
Needless to say, we have subscribed. So where’s your favorite place to find good iPhone apps?
The Big G released its first ever mobile application for the iPhone and iPod Touch last week. Dubbed the Google Mobile App, the application lets you search the web or your iPhone contacts, and includes many features you’d find within Google desktop search products (one of my favorites is Google Suggest).
The Google team released this video highlighting the Google Mobile App features:
It’s interesting to see Google’s investment in the iPhone platform, considering the Google Android phones are just a few months away from reality. Still, even Google knows it will take quite a while for the Android phones to knock the iPhone off it’s perch.
Yes, the official U.S. release of the new Apple iPhone 3G has arrived! For all you that waited in line this morning and shelled out some cash for your shiny new toy, let us know how it went (and how you like the 3G)!
For those that missed this morning’s iPhone festivities, here’s a video from the AT&T store in San Antonio showing what you missed out on!
Rumors are a flyin’ about the highly anticipated announcement of a 3G iPhone today at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco today. We’re also geeked up about the iTunes App Store launch.
Have an iPhone but never bothered to set up your Yahoo! and Gmail accounts on it just yet? Take a look at this brief, yet informative video from Apple themselves on how to set your iPhone to access your web email on the go. Enjoy!
iGolfScorecard is a simple mobile web app for the iPhone or iTouch that acts as an electronic scorecard, allowing you to enter and track your scores on the golf course.
This mobile application includes a simple, intuitive interface, which is absolutely key for golfers that want to concentrate on their swing rather than some complicated application on their phone. There are plenty of other golf apps or mobile websites for the phone that include more complex features, but at some point it starts to become less about the game itself and more about how to use all the complex features.
I’m a golfer myself. In my mind, the iGolfScorecard could be a big hit among the technologically aware golfers that still want to concentrate on the game itself.
Apple now claims over 600 web apps are now available for the iPhone and iPod touch platforms. Without further a due, here are Apple’s top 10 most popular web apps (app descriptions below are from the Apple website).
Back in December, Google announced an iPhone version of Picasa for viewing pictures on the go. Just yesterday, Google announced a newer release specifically for Windows Mobile 6 touchscreen devices.
The feature that stood out for me was that if you download Google Gears for Mobile to your handheld device, you can access your Picasa albums even when your phone is not connected to the web. Now that is handy.
For all your Windows Mobile 6 touchscreen toting kids out there - go check it out for yourself.
Did you know that people are sharing their personal financial picture for other people to provide feedback? The funny thing is, these users are improving their financial IQ, and it seems to be catching on.
Wesabe is a sort of financial intelligence sharing community for those seeking to improve their money situation. Targeted primarily for 20 and 30 somethings (many of whom have young children), users provide advice and information based on the financial situation of others.
Wesabe has garnered praise from leading publications, including Wired, lifehacker, and WSJ.
I wanted to highlight it here since they recently debuted mobile versions for the iPhone and for mobile browsers in general. There you will be able to view your recent financial transactions, and see what others in the community are recommending. Keep in mind that before browsing to the iPhone or mobile browser versions of the site, you must already have your Wesabe username and password.
Give it a try for yourself. And let us know what you think of the mobile version…
