Compare Prices from Amazon on Your Mobile Phone
December 4th, 2008 MobileFreak
I know we just had cyber Monday, and by all accounts there were a huge number of people online yet again this year. But there are still many gifts that I like to see and touch before I buy, especially if it’s something I’ve never bought before or am not familiar with. This is where the mobile price comparison sites come in (like the one that compares local prices), and we have another one for you today.
The folks at TicTap, which started out as an SMS pricing service for products on Amazon, have since re-tooled their service to offer price comparison information on the web (desktop) and the mobile web as well (they killed the SMS service in mid-2007). The TicTap mobile website allows users to look up products by name or UPC code, view prices, reviews, and recommendations before purchasing.
Another neat feature of TicTap is the Price Alert service, which can help you take advantage of Amazon’s price drop policy. So Amazon has a policy where if you buy a product from Amazon and see that their price has lowered within 3 days, Amazon will pay you the difference. Not too shabby, especially now when prices everywhere seem to keep going down. Clearly, the hardest part about it is to know when the price drops. Using TicTap, you can be alerted via email when the price drops on Amazon. Very slick.
Now go check out the TicTap mobile website before you buy that DVD for your brother!
