The Mobile Web Leader in Sports? A Webkinz World Without Apples

Did You Miss Blog Action Day?

October 16th, 2007 MobileFreak

Seems we were too busy geeking out on our mobile browsers yesterday and missed the memo on blog action day. We think it’s a great cause, so we’ll do our best to make up for it today.

What is it? Blog Action Day was created to help generate awareness about the environment. The group has garnered support from thousands of blogs around the Web to generate awareness and promote ways to help protect the environment in general. (Maybe next year they’ll have a mobile website!)

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

Personally, one small step I have been taking recently has been to slowly replace all the lights in my house with the energy efficient, fluorescent light bulbs. I started with the outside lights, as they stay on all night and are usually the first burn out. We have recessed lighting in our basement, and after a little trial and error, I finally found the right size fluorescent bulbs. For anyone else having the same problem, I did just run across a lighting supply website that has a handy guide here. I’m about 40% done replacing all the bulbs in the house, and I feel better about it already.

What have you done to help protect the environment? Get some more ideas over at the Blog Action Day blog. Or share your idea by adding a comment below.

Thanks for writing this…and I guess I’ll tell you what I’m doing today…

I’m working with a coalition to make sure Congress sends the president a strong energy bill with meaningful changes for our environment and planet. This legislation would be a monumental step toward stopping global warming. Please go to http://www.energybill2007.org and sign the petition.

Congress finally has a chance to pass meaningful energy legislation. The bill they are about to pass includes the best fuel economy standards ever (35 mpg by 2020) and a renewable electricity standard (15% by 2020) that guarantees the growth of renewable, clean energy. But there is a chance these two key advances won’t make it through to the final bill. This is our chance for real progress, so please don’t let Congress back down! Thanks again.
