Olympia Washington Goes Mobile More Real-Time Election Coverage on Your Cell Phone

Election Results on Your Mobile Phone

November 2nd, 2008 MobileFreak

The election is three days away. What will you be doing Tuesday night when the results are reported? (or will it be Wednesday?)

If you might be out and about, you should prepare now to access the results from your phone. There are plenty of options, as of course virtually all mobile news sites will be carrying the results as the cover story. Some services will provide SMS alerts as well.

Here are a few options to choose from to stay tuned in to the election results on November 4:

Mobile Websites

Google Election tools: http://m.google.com/elections
USA Today Alerts: m.usatoday.com
ABC News: m.abcnews.com
State of Georgia: http://notifications.sos.state.ga.us/lists/

dotMobi covered off a couple of the sites you mentioned as well as a few other mobile sites for keeping up with election news at http://dotmobi.typepad.com/dotmobi/2008/11/the-first-mobile-us-presidential-election-is-coming-to-a-close.html.

I was trying to find a service to SMS me the results of the election. I unfortunately have to work that night without any television or radio. My phone does internet, but It’s easier to just check SMS messages. Thanks for any help!

James – we just posted about the NY Times SMS service. Try this:
Text NEWSALERTS to 698698 for national election results, or text ELECTIONS followed by your zip code (e.g., ELECTIONS 90210) to 698698 for state-specific updates.

Anyone else using other SMS/text message services covering the election?
