How is your iPhone 4 reception?

July 14th, 2010 MobileFreak

As many of you have heard, there are a number of stories out there about how Apple’s new iPhone 4 is getting negative reviews around it’s reception.

Specifically, the redesign of the iPhone 4 includes incorporating the antennae in the outer casing of the phone. As a result, the user’s hand can interfere with the phone’s reception, causing the bar indicators to go down.

Even Consumer Reports has stated they cannot recommend the iPhone 4 due to this reception issue, in what was an otherwise a positive review.

We want to hear from you!

Did you buy an iPhone 4? Let us know by answering the poll below. Two people who participate in our poll will win a free MobileMammoth t-shirt.

It’s funny, just today – for the first time – the antenna problem has suddenly fixed itself. The phone never goes below 3 bars when gripping it now. Have a look at a video I made about it earlier today — http://zoopy.com/q/4qca

Glad you like it B Dillard. We do apologize for the downtime. We hit a few bumps with the upgrade but now we are better than ever. Thanks for hanging with us!

This is ridicilous. My Iphone 4 is always at 2-3 bars. When i grip it in a certain way, it just gets disconnected… I can’t believe how Apple didn’t fix this through Iphone generations!

I just got an iPod Touch the other day. Already I can see how its a handy device. Some people have called the iPad a glorified iPod Touch, and if that’s all it is it’ll be a slick device. This iPod, itself, with its small screen, is very slick. I can see how a larger screen, a little more power and more features would make for a nice, portable machine.

I’m sorry but it seems like I mixed up my previous comment from an iPad article I was reading earlier. My iPhone reception seems to be a problem in basements and in some elevators. It is fine everywhere else though. Even in remote parts of town, it is quite strong. So other than underground reception, it’s mostly not a problem. But it would be nice to not have that issue either.

Very glad to see Mobile Mammoth back up and running well.

Car battery, exactly! In most cases that seems to be my problem. In basements, i can’t use my phone. Out in the open, i can’t use my phone. Just like Dillard says i’m happy with Mobile Mammoth, but this whole iPhone thing has been a big downer for me. I’m seriously considering to return it :(
