Promote Your iPhone App for Free

Developers of iPhone apps now have a new way to promote their mobile applications to like-minded users. Mobile advertising leader Admob recently launched their Download Exchange platform.

This essentially allows developers to promote their apps through adds on other iPhone apps that also participate in the Download Exchange. Many have called it a new version of a link exchange. That’s exactly what it is, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, when I first read this I had a chuckle because it made me think of the old, web rings, banner exchanges, link exchanges etc. I suppose these tools can service developers and help with promotion but as a particular genre evolves I think these become useless…basically very easy to over saturate people with these and then the public becomes blind to them. Could work for a bit though! :)
Yeah, but what kind of traffic would we get? Are we talking just anyone in the Admob or would it be targeted? Cross selling is great, but I don’t want to promote a male-centric product on a hannah montana app.
