Sexting Becoming a Real Problem

As you may have read, there are more and more stories about how teens and young adults are sexting — or sending nude pictures to each other via text message.
There is a recent story of a high school girl in Cincinnati who sent a nude picture of herself to her boyfriend via text message, and the picture soon spread to the school and to much of the town. The girl recently hanged herself as a result.
This is a terrible story and it unfortunately won’t be the last. How do we stop these tragedies and help these kids understand what they are doing? I am a huge believer of free speech and individual rights, and maybe it’s simply a matter of educating them about what they are doing. Though I don’t know how effective that would be. Any creative ideas?
