Small Business Thinks Big with Mobile Website

August 11th, 2010 MobileFreak

A small health services company in Sydney, Australia contacted us to let us know about their mobile website they launched recently.

While it is not quite finished yet, we were impressed by how well a small company clearly put the time and effort in to designing and building a mobile website for mobile users. They had identified that over 20% of their web visitors reach them through a mobile device, so they acted on that and implemented a helpful website that serves its audience well.

If you own a small business and do not yet have a mobile web presence, get ahead of the game and start thinking about one. The investment is minimal, and many companies still have time to get way ahead of their competition.

Thank you mobilemammorth team for your interest in our .mobi website.

We are in the process of building a new mainsite to replace our old clunky website, built originally in 2002, however there is still a long way to go and the present site is not good at all when viewed on mobile.

When views from mobiles reached 20% we realised we had to provide users with a much better experience or potentially lose them to our competitors. Our bounce rate was increasing as mobile views increased.

As you indicated it is not a huge investment to provide mobile users a better experience with your business and we encourage all small business to have a go. Keep it simple and intuitive and you will be surprised at the results.

We started with mobile ready forms for our patients to complete prior attending their first appointment. We deliver a url, to an SSL form, in an appointment confirmation SMS. Over 98% of patients complete this form before arriving at the clinic saving our front office staff a huge amount of time and reducing errors from entering information from hand written forms to almost nil. We also save lots of paper.

After receiving the form we reply with a successful submit SMS, a thank you for saving the use of paper and our time, and provide a code for them to have a complimentary beverage at the cafe in our building, when they come for their appointment. Small things in business can make a huge difference particularly when everybody wins.

Thanks again guys for your interest in our mobi site.

Kind regards

Brad

Thanks again guys,

We’ve had quite a few visits to the .mobi site from MobileMammoth. :)

We finally managed to get our videos to work on iPhone/iPad (http://www.cityclinic.mobi/video.aspx?v=1). We are still working on delivering a full playlist (album) rather than send users to our youtube channel so still a work in progress.

Regards

BR

If you have an iphone and you browse very often, you might have noticed there’re lots of sites have already implemented their own mobile page. And of course this way it helps both readers and the owners.
