Submit Mobile Websites and Win $100 Cash
August 7th, 2007 MobileFreak
Want to win $100 cash? Or at least get a cool t-shirt? Read on.
We at MobileMammoth are all about helping you learn more about mobile websites so you can save time, have fun, and just live smarter. Now we want to hear from you.
Here’s how to enter — submit your favorite, top 5 mobile websites in a comment to this post by 11:59pm Eastern Time (US) on Friday, August 31Sunday, September 9. After the deadline, we will collect all the entries, and will put the lists up for vote by our user community for a few weeks.
The user with the most votes at the end of the voting period wins $100 cash via PayPal. The first 20 entrants will receive a free MobileMammoth.com t-shirts. The top 10 vote-getters will also get a free t-shirt, including the winner.
Other rules:
1. Be creative and original. An entry with the 5 most common mobile websites is probably not going to stand out. (And anyone caught stealing content will be called out.)
2. In your top 5 list, each item must include the URL of the mobile website. (Mobile services provided via text message are fine too). Feel free to include a short blurb on each site for the readers.
3. Each user gets one vote please. You can ask your friends or your blog readers to vote, but only one vote per person please. If any votes are found to be cast by the same person, those votes will not count toward the contest.
4. MobileMammoth.com retains the right to settle, at its sole discretion, any and all disputes related to the management of this contest.
5. Have fun, and we hope you find a few new useful sites out of this contest.
Contest updates will be sent out to our email subscribers (subscribe using the button located in the top right corner of this site).
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and submit your top 5 mobile websites today. And don’t forget, all entries must be received by 11:59pm ET on Friday, August 31Sunday, September 9.

My 5 favorite mobile sites (in no particular order):
Google Reader Mobile
I tried various mobile RSS reading applications but the lack of a sync with the
desktop made a web based solution the only practical way forward.
Digg via DiggRiver
It’s simply a very nicely formatted way to read Digg on the move.
NetVibes home page
Customized exactly to my needs this is by far the cleanest, quickest and most
reliable start page I’ve found for my PDA. Google’s mobile /ig page cannot begin
to compete with this established brand in web portals.
A cut-down mobile friendly IMDB
search
As a film buff I hate the fact that there’s no live version of IMDB for mobile
users. This comes pretty damned close.
Picasa Mobile
Another Google mobile page that replaced a mobile application on my device. Why
carry a picture viewer when I’m already carrying a browser? My pics are in my
Picasa account and I can simply open this Favorite URL and check them out or
bring them up on screen to show friends.
http://1.61803.mobi/
Nothing fancy, just a random poem on your mobile - think of it like “Poem’s on the Underground” for mobile ;)
Stephen - sounds good but that URL is returning this error: “XML Parsing Error: not well-formed”.
Also, don’t forget that in order to be entered in the contest, you must enter 5 (five) mobile websites. Thanks for commenting and best of luck!
http://mobilised.net - It’s like ‘Digg’ for mobile sites. Registered users can submit, tag, vote/bury & comment mobile links/news. Submit links directly from mobile browser via Twitter-SMS
http://m.mystrands.com/ - music recommendations
http://mobile.jajah.com/mobilemini/ - free/cheap voip calls
http://wap.sensis.com.au - Australian local search
http://ski.com.au/wap/index.xhtml - Australian ski reports

Apply cool animated effects to the pictures you take with your mobile (VGA resolution only, sadly), upload your picture and see how cool the members feel you look. Download FX effects for MMS and also download JMS (Java messages) to send cool animated personalised messages to near and dear ones. Many other cool features too.

My tip:
I read at a few places on this site about people complaining of not being able to use IMDB as it doesn’t have a mobile version.
Guys try out opera mini. You can surf any www site on your mobile and it also compresses data to save money. Try it you won’t look back. You can download it from your mobile’s wap browser, go to mini.opera.com
My recommendation: try their mini 4 beta version.
Am commenting through it using my sony k750i

I have submitted five site of mobile
Edited by MobileFreak to list the five sites submitted by Ruben Khare:
http://www.funmaza.com
http://www.bestmobileworld.com
http://www.mobilemania.com
http://www.funnymobilez.com
http://www.getjar.com
My nominations.
1) MSN Mobile (http://mobile.msn.com/) - I’m not a Microsoft fanboy. I think Vista and “Plays for Sure” and “Windows Genuine Advantage” are all abominations. But the the MSN mobile team has been doing some awesome stuff lately. The MSN mobile portal blows away Yahoo, Google and AOL’s efforts in News, Weather, Sports, Maps, Directions and Entertainment. Check out the Live MLB coverage (Fox Sports > MLB > Todays Games > Details). Every Spaces blog comes with a mobile version enabled by default. The MSNBC News section is the best US based mobile news site in terms of depth of coverage. MSN’s weak areas are search and email, but the rest rocks.
2) Bloglines (http://bloglines.com/mobile) - Buggy but in combination with Opera Mini still the best way to read RSS feeds on a mobile.
3) Mowser.com (http://mowser.com/) This site came out of nowhere to offer a transcoder to challenge Google and Skweezer plus it’s meta-search engine, a portal and a bookmarking service (too bad it doesn’t work with Opera Mini bookmarklets). Watch this space, I bet Russ has some more mobile magic up his sleaves.
4) Mobilised (http://mobilised.net/) - The first mobile bookmarking site that actually works for me. Use it with the Opera Mini Bookmarklet. This site as the potential to be THE mobile Digg, IF it achieves critical mass.
5) Classic Google Mobile Search (http://www.google.com/m?pref=s&uipref=2) The original, still available at that exact url, not the new version that buries mobile web results under tons of transcoded content.
1) Flight Stats - The most complete airline site there is period! They have Flight Status, Departures & Arrivals, Flight Status by Route, Flight Alerts, Airline Info, Airport Info, Security Wait times, Weather, Current Airport Delays . A must for any frequent flyer!
2) Bank of America Mobile - This site offers information on any Bank of America type of account, online banking and bill payment, and branch and ATM locator.
3) FatWallet - Shopping forums that contain the best freebies and discounts that can be found online, over the phone or in the stores.
4) Wikipedia - Access the worlds largest online encyclopedia on your mobile.

just a question, since few comments here list one or more sites which’re already listed by someone earlier like mobilised.net getjar.com and a few others. so doesn’t that make the entries which were posted later invalid?? coz if i have 3 very good wap sites i can just copy 2 from previous comments
Great looking site so far!! I’m just starting to look around it but I love the title page! driving direction to mexico
