Top 10 Free Directory Assistance Numbers
June 20th, 2008 MobileFreak
One of our loyal readers, pinetrees10, recently posted an excellent comment that included a list of ten free directory assistance numbers. That’s right – no more paying for your carrier’s 411 service! I’ve posted the comment below in it’s entirety, including those directory assistance numbers.
The original comment was made in regards to our April 16 post about free 411 services. I said at the time we would highlight it in a post later on, as many folks don’t get a chance to read all the comments from every post.
At long last, here are the 10 most useful free directory assistance (411) phone numbers out there today:
Don’t try just one….When it comes to free directory assistance, you have LOTS of choices. They differ in some important ways, so try them all out and see which one(s) you prefer. You may want to try them all every so often just to see what’s new! Grin!
I prefer the ones that have operators to help when the automation doesn’t recognize me, that get me ACCURATE information fast, and that also don’t restrict me to only business searches – sometimes I need to find people, too!

I use 411 services frequently! My job keeps me on the move and I have found that 1-800-411-SAVE is the best service for me. When I’m on the run and trying to get a phone number fast I don’t like messing with those horrible automated machines, I have found that by speaking directly to a live person, I get my information faster and more accuratly without the hassle. I would highly recommned this service to anyone, it is not only a great way to save money but also a more convenient way to use 411 services. I have recommended the service to all my friends and famil and will continue to do so as long as I continue to enjoy the service.
i need ronda ragland cell number
1 800 411 SAVE no longer has people you can talk to.. You have to text message them, and they text message you back. I don’t have text messaging on my mobile phone, so this service would not be useful to me. I wish there was a good service with residential numbers. IFor some reason f1 800 free 411 never understands me. I cant stand to use it. For business numbers goog 411 was okay, but it’s gone now. I would love to hear of a good service, which understood regular people and had residential as well.
Google Stopped Free 411 on Nov. 11, 2010
Great feedback J Miller and Stephanie. I think this sort of service will come back when they figure out the local market. Too early right now to just let it bleed cash. Or is it??

You can use Microsoft’s BING-411 (i.e. 1-800-246-4411) which works like Google’s (now expired) GOOG-411, except that you can get turn-by-turn driving directions, local weather, and local restaurant info. This service has been around since around the time Microsoft launched the BING search engine.
Use Microsoft’s BING-411 (1-800-246-4411) as a replacement for (the now defunct) GOOG-411/
I just tried 1-800-411-save and they told me to text. Just thought that you would like to know…
Thank you. I really miss Google 411. It was acurate and you didn’t have to repeat yourself 100 times to get who you needed. I just tried this and it only made one mistake. We will see..
