Zipit Offers Text Messaging Wireless Device

December 19th, 2007 MobileFreak

Once in a while we find a useful gadget or mobile accessory that we just have to write about. Today, it is the Zipit Wireless Messenger, also known as the Z2.

The Z2 is not a phone. It is a text messaging device designed for heavy text messaging. Many mobile users already use two different devices for different functions. For example, I know several folks who use their blackberry for email/messaging, and a regular mobile phone for voice calls. In addition, cost conscious parents and teens would be wise to consider the Z2 to put an end to the ridiculous text messaging fees. As the wireless market matures, this type of specialization will continue.

What say you? Would you consider buying a separate mobile device just for text messaging?

I text more and talk less, this looks like the perfect tool. The only thing I knew about before was Ogo and it’s not available in the US.

Thanks for posting about this, I’ll check it out!

There is also the Sony Mylo for US users, but beware the reviews for the Mylo have been less than stellar.
