Sending Text Messages from Wireless Carriers Websites

Once you select the carrier of the phone you want to send the message to, you will be prompted for their phone number (including area code), and of course the actual message you want to send. Most carriers require that your message must be a maximum of 160 characters in length, which is the standard for SMS messages. If your sending your text message to a T-Mobile phone, you’re limited to 140 characters.

You may want to add this to your Google bookmarks, especially if you find yourself paying extra to your cell phone company wach month from SMS charges. (Note that standard text messaging rates apply for the person recieving your message.)

  2. Address the email to the AT&T phone number(s) of the person or people you’re trying to reach, and add <@txt.att.net> (without the brackets).

    3. For example: 4803334444@txt.att.net

  3. Send your message.

Q: How do I email a text message to a Nextel wireless phone?

To send a text message to a Nextel wireless phone, perform the following steps:

  1. Create the message in an email from your email account.
  2. Address the email to the Nextel phone number(s) of the person or people you’re trying to reach and add <@messaging.nextel.com> (without the brackets).

    3. For example: 4803334444@messaging.nextel.com
